The cost of this 31-page book is $10.00 plus $5 shipping and handling.
(2) The Jones-Imboden Raid Through Western Virginia April 24 to May, 1863 (copyrighted by the author in 2011). This book describes the Confederate raid in detail and recounts Union Colonel Joseph A. J. Lightburn’s part in opposing it. The cost of this 21-page book (containing pictures and a map) is $10.00 plus $5 shipping and handling.
(3) Kanawha Valley Campaign of 1862 or “West Virginia History Lost & Found” (copyrighted by the author in 2012). This book (1) describes the campaign in detail; (2) includes historical facts uncovered by the author; (3) examines Union Colonel Joseph A. J. Lightburn’s performance as he led the Union forces during the campaign; and (4) presents strong evidence that Confederate Maj. Gen. William Wing Loring led double the amount of Confederate troops than he claimed to have led in his report on the campaign. This book also includes (the consolidated) History of the Union WV 4th Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Lightburn’s first regiment that he helped form and that he trained). In addition, this book contains Letters of Private William Van Brown of the Union WV 4th* (such letters edited and typed by the author) describing the Kanawha Valley Campaign of 1862. The cost of this 255-page book (containing maps and pictures) is $40.00 plus $7.00 shipping and handling.
*The original handwritten letters of Private William Van Brown are housed in the Brown Family Collection (MSS 28), Mahn Center for Archives and Special Collections, Alden Library, Ohio University, Athens, Ohio
The facts contained in the three aforementioned books are also contained in the author’s all-inclusive two-volume book/CD titled A Great Civil War Has Come Upon Us, etc. (described above) with the following differences: (1) the history of the WV 4th Volunteer Infantry Regiment is scattered throughout the two-volume book whereas the history of the regiment is consolidated in the Kanawha Valley book and (2) only some of Private William Van Brown’s letters are included in the two-volume book whereas all of his letters are included in the Kanawha Valley book.
